Jurgen Klopp has decided to give Fabio Carvalho his favorite position back. Meanwhile, Carvalho prefers to play in the middle as a number 10 for Liverpool.
However, The Reds don’t use that style of play. As a result, Carvalho has to play out of his preferred positions.
It was revealed by the youngster himself in an interview with Viaplay. He said:
“Either left-hand side or maybe in the middle of the park as a 10,”
“As long as I’m playing, that’s all that matters to be fair.”
The 20-year-old used to play as a no. 10 for Fulham. Meanwhile, due to his impressive performance in Fulham, he earned a place in the Championship Team of the Season.
Moreover, his performance also pleased the Liverpool management. They went on to sign Carvalho for $5m in the summer window of 2022.
Klopp gives Carvalho’s preferred position back
Klopp used to play 4-3-3 and as a result, there was no room for Carvalho to play in his preferred position. However, Klopp changed the system to 4-4-2, and the results started to improve.
Moreover, this helped Fabio Carvalho got back his preferred position back. It brings back the no.10 position and Carvalho was able to operate behind two strikers.
However, it’s not permanent and Klopp might change the system anytime soon. With the changes in formation, Klopp is also able to understand the potential of each player in their position.
So, it remains to be seen if Klopp continues to play in this formation to get the best out of Carvalho.
