Leicester vs West Ham: Preview, team news and predicted line-up

Leicester City

West Ham United will be looking to get back-to-back Premier League wins as they travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City. West Ham United have dominated this fixture of late. They have won the last three games between the two sides.

The two teams last met in August of last year in an eventful 4-1 win for West Ham United. Ayoze Perez received a red card which did not help their case. Goals from Fornals, Benrahma, and a brace from Antonio sealed the three points for the Hammers.

The Foxes have not performed up to the mark this season. They were stunned by Championship’s Nottingham Forest in the 4th round of the FA Cup. The Championship team strolled past Leicester City with a 4-1 win.

Leicester have failed to win any of their last four games in all competitions. They lost their last game 2-0 against Brendon Rodger’s former club, Liverpool. This defeat leaves them 12th on the table with 26 points. Under pressure, Brendon Rodgers will want to get back to winning ways as European places start slipping out of their hands.

West Ham United, on the other hand, have become surprise Champions League contenders. They currently occupy the 4th spot on the table with 40 points. Breathing down their neck are Spurs, Arsenal, and Manchester United, forming an interesting race for the 4th spot.

The Hammers returned to winning ways in the league following their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United. They won 1-0 against Watford earlier this week where Bowen’s 68-minute goal was enough to hand them the three points.

Leicester City vs West Ham United: Team news

Leicester City

The Foxes will be without the services of Jamie Vardy, Fofana, Jonny Evans, and Ryan Bertrand as they are sidelined due to injuries.

Youri Tielemans and Harvey Barnes should come back into the starting line-up after starting from the bench in the previous game.

Ndidi who started in the centre-back position against Liverpool might return into the midfield, making way for Soyunchu or Vestergaard.

Manager Brendon Rodgers has a decision to make upfront between Daka and Iheanacho.

Possible Leicester City starting line-up:

Schmeichel; Justin, Amartey, Soyunchu, Thomas; Ndidi, Tielemans; Barnes, Maddison, Albrighton; Iheanacho.

West Ham United

David Moyes has specified that Kurt Zouma will be available for selection despite the defender being involved in controversy recently. David Moyes was heavily criticized for starting the defender in their last games after a video surfaced of Zouma hitting his cat.

Arthur Masuaku and Angelo Ogbonna will remain absent for this game due to injuries. Moyes could field a similar lineup that he did against Watford, with Lanzini being a possible inclusion.

Possible West Ham United starting line-up

Fabianski; Coufal, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek; Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma; Antonio

Our Prediction

Leicester City 2-3 West Ham

The away team will win the contest by the tiniest of margins. This feels like one of those games that could go anywhere. Nevertheless, West Ham have shown a lot of resilience recently and could exploit the wounded Foxes.

Leicester City are missing some key players like Vardy, Fofana, and Evans. Not to mention, they have a very poor record against the Hammers in recent history. West Ham United should be able to come away from the King Power Stadium with all three points.
