Liverpool and Manchester City are all set to battle it out for the signing of the new midfielder in January. Liverpool was linked with many midfielders throughout the summer. However none of those deals have actually gone through. Although, Liverpool did bring in Arthur Melo from Juventus on a loan, who have nearly missed half of the season due to an injury. According to Record, the Reds are expressing interest in the Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Liverpool and Manchester City to be linked with Fernandez

The reports state that Liverpool and Manchester City are to battle it out for the signing of the midfielder. The Reds were linked with the Argentine back in the summer as well. According to reports, the Reds are ‘crazy’ for the midfielder. Fernandez is reported to have a release clause of €120million (£105m), after only moving to Benfica at the end of last season. Despite of playing in Europe only for a few months, the player seemed to have impressed many top clubs. Enzo Fernandez won the World Cup with Argentina at such a young age. Furthermore he was even awarded the Young Player of the Tournament trophy. Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United have all shown interest in signing the player. They are all said to be monitoring the player’s transfer status.

Liverpool seem really interested in signing the midfielder. They are even reported to even battle it out with other clubs if it comes down to it. Dortmund star Jude Bellingham is also being linked with the Reds for the winter transfer. However no such confirmation have been received. Young player like Jude Bellinghum would be a good addition to the Reds. Furthermore the Reds really need to re-vamp their midfield. Liverpool fans would surely be thrilled if these signings go through. However nothing is set on stone as of now. Therefore it will be interesting to see how things turn out for them.
