Liverpool is linked with yet another player in the upcoming transfer window. After having a terrible season they’re certainly eyeing for many players to help the team in the next season. One of them is Josko Gvardiol. Meanwhile, getting knocked out of the Champions League, FA Cup, and the League Cup has left fans itching for the club to reinvest.
Josko Gvardiol: A transfer might or might not happen
Respected Journalist, Ben Jacobs has revealed that Liverpool have been tracking the Croatian defender for some time. In a recent interview, Gvardiol also accepted that he would make a decision on his future in the summer.
He has catched everyone’s eyes after his impressive performance in the World Cup and leading his team to a third-place finish. The Croatian manager even told him that he is the best center back in the world.
Although he would have many suitors from top European clubs, RB Leipzig would like to avoid meeting the 97 million release clause in his contract.
Gvardiol has mentioned his favorite club as Liverpool and they are certainly present in the race to sign him. But he is now fully focused on the current season with Leipzig.
As per a new report, Gvardiol might not be joining The Reds. Klopp has Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount, Matheus Nunes, and Gvardiol on his transfer list.
However, they may struggle to pursue him as the club’s main focus is to improve the midfield. They are currently not focusing on defence.
With Van Dijk and Konate being the first two options of Klopp, they also have Gomez, Matip and Nathan Phillips with them as backups.
However, Matip is entering the final year of his contract, and Phillips is expected to leave the club in the summer. Henceforth, they might have to land a new center back in the summer.
Chelsea are also monitoring the situation of Gvardiol and would like to land him as well. They’ve also struggled in the Premier League.
