According to a reliable German journalist Christian Falk, Liverpool is very close to signing Borussia midfielder Jude Bellingham. They are “very close” to reaching an agreement over a 2023 summer transfer.
The Reds are in the battle to sign the accomplished teenager along with Europe’s Elite clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City It is expected that Bellingham will leave BVB next year in the summer transfer than that of winter transfer.
His price will be more than € 120 million – and his outstanding performances for England at the 2022 World Cup will obviously rise his value.
The Englishmen has spent lots of his leisure time during the world cup with Liverpool stars Henderson and Trent Alexander Arnold, adding fuel to the fire when Klopp’s side trying the negotiation of his transfer.
Liverpool leading the race in signing Jude Bellingham
Earlier it appears that Manchester City were the front-runner in the race of signing Bellingham, but Bild reported that Liverpool are at the top of this race. Many reports are claiming that the Borussia midfielder prefers a move to Merseyside club. A few days ago, Borussia Dortmund M.D Carsten Cramer accepted that Liverpool is the “preferred” terminus for Bellingham.
The German journalist Christian Falk holds an opinion that Bellingham’s departure is inevitable in the next transfer and also claimed that, his entourage are “really focused” on a move to the Premier League club. The only problem could be money. This is the thing – I don’t know how far Liverpool are in this case with Dortmund.
Christian Falk told the Anfield Wrap:
“You heard the news, you will have heard that Bellingham and Liverpool are very, very close. There have been many, many talks. His father Mark, mother Denise are in the negotiations together with his agent Mark Bennett, they are really focused on Liverpool.”
Falk further added ;
“This will be an advantage for City, for Chelsea, who are also in the race. But we heard clearly – if Bellingham can decide it, it’s Liverpool. He has no clause [in his contract]. So €150 million is at the moment, the point. I think that’s about £130 million, I guess. And I heard Liverpool would pay, at the moment, €100 million – which is about 86 million in sterling. So I’m not sure if they find a solution so early. Perhaps the Fenway group is selling the club, the new owner makes a present to supporters – then it would be easier!”
Liverpool could miss out on the Champions League football next season because of their poor start to 2022-23. Even if Klopp fails to grab a top-four finish, Bellingham would be happy to join, Falk claims.
“It’s not an easy decision, but Liverpool is bigger than the Champions League. I think for one year, that’s not a problem for him.”
When Falk was asked about his personal feeling regarding this deal, he continued;
“I think it will happen, but in the end, it’s the point of the player and the point of Liverpool.
“It’s a question of money. If Liverpool can’t pay Dortmund it will get difficult, because in the end, he has a contract, and if they can’t find a solution with the transfer fee, that’s the point where Real Madrid can knock again, Chelsea can knock again, and especially City can knock again, because Pep Guardiola is also a man who can talk to players very well.”
