Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and key player Andy Robertson have mentioned the same missing trait after the defeat to Napoli in the Champions League.

Both have admitted they gave Napoli a wide open space to run at them. However, Jurgen Klopp has said he would like to solve the problem as quickly as he can.

LIVERPOOL BOSS JURGEN KLOPP HIGHLIGHTED A BIG PROBLEM IN THE DEFEAT AGAINST NAPOLI

Space has always been important to success for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. The players and management are known for their management of space. It is because of space management that the players manage to close down the opposition and win battles. Hence, it is clear space management is an important tactic for Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds play the high wire attacking football. They continue to play the same style even if things are going badly. It is because they believe that it will come good in the end. However, the style is not going well. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that his players were not compact defensively or offensively against Napoli. Hence, the match ended in a 4-1 defeat for the Reds and Jurgen Klopp.

ANDY ROBERTSON ALSO HAS HIGHLIGHTED THE SAME PROBLEM

Andy Robertson also used the same word space in the post-match interview. The defender also said that the team deserved a defeat after such a poor showing against Napoli. He also said,

” We were miles too open. You can’t come to a place like this and not be compact. They were by miles the better team.”Too many times they had space to run at us and cause us problems.

It is looking like Liverpool will need to start from their basics if they are getting opened up too much. Andy Robertson also said the space was so much open that it looked like Napoli were playing with 12 players. He also added,

“You have to be ready to fight. We weren’t close enough to our mate. We have to wake up and quickly because we can’t perform like that.”Space, then, And being compact in defensive actions.

It is clear that in recent matches Liverpool are giving too much space to the opposition to score. Hence, they need to solve the problem of space management very quickly. If they don’t solve it, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be Europa League contenders and not Champions League contenders.
