Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp shows his interest in Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. Klopp phone calls the midfielder trying to persuade him to choose Anfield over Old Trafford.
Despite their laser-focused efforts, the Reds have been laser-focused on the Moroccan midfielder staying strong in the race with Manchester United. It is pretty much clear why Klopp is looking for midfielders recently. Liverpool brought in the World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister along with Dominik Szoboszlai this summer to counterbalance the losses of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner.
Somehow, the unexpected departure of Fabinho and Henderson has left Klopp stunned. As a result, he is looking to build his central midfield by signing a couple of midfielders before the transfer window closes. Numerous other names have been linked to Liverpool like Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, and Wolves’ Mario Lemina. Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure is also reported to be on the shortlist.
The report explains: ‘Last Tuesday there was a telephone contact between Klopp and the midfielder: the coach explained to Amrabat the importance of a player of his characteristics in a midfield that has lost several balancers.’
Is Sofyan Amrabat exactly what Klopp needs?
It is actually quite surprising that he has never been linked with Liverpool. Liverpool fans would be very happy if Sofyan represented them in European football. 26-year-old, experienced, star performer in the World Cup, who can also slot in the starting 11 without a doubt. Clearly, Sofyan can handle pressure, help his team defensively, and can contribute to different attributes as well. One of the things he’s exceptionally good at is his pass. He can create chances to help the strikers, whereas his passing accuracy has been stupendous.
Sofyan has also been great at tackles, disrupting opposition play, as well as keeping possession in the midfield. Looking at the last world cup, he ran the most distance on the pitch giving his team outrageous defensive options. This seems to have impressed Klopp as he’d wish to bring the best out of him. 4-years younger than Endo, the other signing that Liverpool is interested in. They can split the time for these two. Meanwhile, when you take a look at the price for Sofyan, this is of course a very cleaver signing by Klopp. Surely, he aligns with what Klopp wants and what Liverpool has lost in the form of prime Fabinho and prime Henderson.
