A recent report from the Italian outlet Spazio Napoli suggests that Newcastle United is showing interest in signing Hirving Lozano. The club is considering a late move to bolster its offensive capabilities during the current transfer window. Hirving Lozano has emerged as a possible target for the team. Lozano’s journey has seen incremental progress since his move from PSV Eindhoven to Napoli in August 2019. After spending two years in the Netherlands, the Mexican international transitioned to the Serie A club.
While his impact hasn’t been overwhelmingly notable over the past four seasons, he played a role in Napoli’s Serie A title victory in the previous season. However, it appears that Lozano isn’t currently part of Rudi Garcia’s immediate plans. He didn’t feature in the opening match of the current season. Nevertheless, Lozano’s reputation remains significant, and Newcastle United is among the clubs interested in acquiring his services.
Newcastle at the transfer market
Although Newcastle United has been prudent in the transfer market, focusing on essential signings, the club has yet to secure an offensive player. This has led to speculation that they might explore options for a wide attacker. While Federico Chiesa’s name has been linked recently, he seems to be leaning towards joining Liverpool. Consequently, Hirving Lozano has emerged as a potential choice for the club. Despite not being exceptionally prolific during his time at Napoli, Lozano could bring a winning mentality to Newcastle United after securing the Serie A title last season.
Hirving Lozano’s role
In terms of tactics, Lozano could potentially compete with Miguel Almiron on the right flank, while the left-wing position could see competition between Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon. Although Aston Villa has also shown interest in Lozano, Newcastle United’s potential offering of UEFA Champions League football positions the club as a strong contender to secure the services of the 28-year-old Serie A winner during this ongoing transfer window. All eyes will be on St. James’ Park to see if this potential acquisition comes to fruition in the coming days.
