Liverpool can still complete three transfers and that does not include Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool can complete three more transfers even after the transfer window has closed. These three deals do not include the expected £8million agreement for Fabio Carvalho from Fulham. According to This Is Anfield, the Reds expect at least one more transfer within the next 14 days. Players like Lorius Karius, Takumi Minamino, and Divock Origi are all in contention to leave Anfield as Luis Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto.

Minamino and Origi already struggled to get proper game time before AFCON because of Salah and Mane. However, they are now set to return soon and Liverpool have also signed Luis Diaz from Porto. This means that they will have even lesser time on the pitch and might struggle to find game time.

Moreover, James Pearce has already confirmed that Karius will be leaving the club as a free agent in the summer. He is very unlikely to get any game time at Liverpool until the end of the season. Liverpool and the player both understand that it is better for him to search for a new club as early as possible for a move-out.

Eleven European Leagues nations will see their transfer windows close later in February, with five more being open until March, two open till April, and one open till May according to reports. This gives Liverpool a good chance to transfer out these three players for good deals. However, it will be a tough task for the Reds to find suitable clubs for these players.

Why Liverpool wants to complete these transfers now and not wait till summer?

It is better for players to find a new club as soon as possible especially for players who won’t get a good amount of game time. Even though all three of them have been important players for the Liverpool squad, they struggle to play regularly for the club. The occasional use of Minamino in cup ties can now be done with the help of Luis Diaz. Liverpool have done good business transfers in January but still have to focus on outgoings.

It feels like Origi has only scored crucial goals for Liverpool and not normal goals. However, Liverpool does have the depth in their squad to replace Origi and will hardly be affected by his departure. Origi has previously attracted Turkish clubs’ attention and can do the same this time. The report suggests that Minamino can get the required game time at RB Salzburg again but a degrade for the Japanese seems less likely.

Lorius Karius is the most likely to leave the club as Basel have already shown interest in the goalkeeper. Liverpool can save the wages of these players if they transfer them out soon enough. Moreover, Liverpool might struggle to find new clubs in the summer so they have started searching beforehand. Moreover, they might also get some transfer fees if the players leave while in contract with Liverpool.

All three players have contributed in one way or the other to Liverpool’s success in recent years. However, they have to play regularly in order to reach their maximum potential. Nevertheless, they have the option to wait until summer for better offers from clubs. They now have very limited options out of which the best options are Turkey, Austria, and Switzerland where they may not be tempted to go.
