Liverpool close in on signing Thuram from Nice as per reports

Liverpool

Liverpool is in talks with Nice over the potential signing of Khephren Thuram as Jurgen Klopp seeks to bolster his midfield options. The French midfielder has been linked with a move to Anfield for several weeks now. Nice is hoping for a bidding war among interested clubs to maximize their profit but there weren’t many.

Thuram is currently on international duty with France at the European Under-21 Championship. He impressed in Nice’s midfield last season with 45 appearances in all competitions. Liverpool’s midfield will require reinforcements as Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contracts expire this summer.

Talks actively going on between Liverpool and Nice for Thuram

Liverpool is actively looking for options to boost their midfield options for the next season. The French midfielder has garnered significant interest from Anfield, and talks are ongoing between the two clubs.

Nice is hoping to generate a bidding war to secure the highest possible transfer fee for the highly-rated 22-year-old. They want to cash in on one of their biggest assets. £28m is the current valuation price for Thuram, as per Transfermarkt. Liverpool want to sign him soon, despite already signing MacAllister.

Liverpool recently made the signing of Argentina international Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton on a five-year deal earlier this month.

Thuram a priority but Gravenberch is an alternative

However, in the event that negotiations with Nice do not result in a successful agreement, the Reds are considering a move for Ryan Gravenberch as an alternative.

Gravenberch joined Bayern before being linked to Liverpool last season. He enjoyed an outstanding season with Ajax a year before, contributing three goals and six assists in 42 appearances. Despite struggling for game time at Bayern Munich, the 20-year-old midfielder desires a transfer.

While Liverpool maintains their interest in Gravenberch, their focus remains on securing the signing of Thuram from Nice. Fans and Klopp are eager to get a solution to this transfer as this can be a huge boost for them going into the season.
