Liverpool FC have recently held talks with Celta Vigo regarding Gabri Veiga. The 21-year old midfielder represents Spain at both the U21s and the senior level. Veiga is linked to a few big clubs for a potential move this summer including the Reds.
Gabri Veiga has been grabbing a lot of headlines recently. Last week, the famous journalist Fabrizio Romano, while speaking on his podcast ‘Here we go‘, described Gabri as ‘one of the best talents in world football right now’. According to him, a number of big clubs are eyeing a move for the midfielder.
However, Liverpool look like the frontrunners to in the race for Veiga. Speaking about this, Romano said, “This week Liverpool had some conversations with people close to Gabri Veiga. Liverpool are one of the most interested clubs in this player, we had reports of a done deal with Newcastle, that is not the case at all, Liverpool are really interested in Gabri Veiga. This is a big opportunity for Liverpool and they are thinking about that, is the player worth the money? Is this what we need?”(sic). It is also expected that Liverpool may soon start official talks with the player and his agent about a potential move to the Merseyside this summer.
While speaking on his podcast, Romano spoke about the amazing qualities of Gabri. He said, “He’s more of a quality player, but he’s an electric player, I really like him, he’s one of the best talents in the world.“(sic). This definitely has brought Veiga into the limelight and more people are now keeping an eye on the Spanish midfielder.
Why Liverpool should go for Veiga
A creative player maker like Veiga can be a big asset for Jürgen Klopp’s team. He is the kind of quality midfielder, who would suit Liverpool’s playing style and can be a great influence for them in the midfield.
Liverpool have also been linked to a few other midfielders, namely Manu Koné and Khéphren Thuram. With only one midfield signing completed, Liverpool still need more signings to complete their rebuild this summer. Even though Veiga has emerged as an option, there haven’t been any official talks between the two parties.
