Liverpool are believed to be closing in on a deal for Polish wonderkid Kacper Kozlowski.

The 17-year-old has already established himself as a regular for Ekstraklasa outfit Pogon Szczecin in his homeland. He registered a goal and three assists from 20 league games last term.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen to pen a deal for the prospect but face competition from AC Milan, RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg. Manchester United also was previously linked with a move to the youngster.

Liverpool prepared to swoop up Kacper Kozlowski

Kacper Kozlowski is widely regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe presently. The teenager broke into the Pogon Szczecin first-team setup well ahead of his 18th birthday.

He has also been termed as the ‘Polish De Bruyne’ after making a rapid impression in his homeland.

His progress also earned him a spot in the Polish national squad for UEFA Euro 2020 and this past summer. He became the youngest player of any nationality to play at a European Championship, aged just 17 years and 246 days.

The teenage prodigy has started the 2021/22 season strongly as well, registering 3 goals and 2 assists in 12 games.

Kozlowski’s rise over the past year or so has inevitably attracted some of the biggest clubs across Europe. Liverpool are the latest to have expressed their interest in the 17-year-old, who are considering a January move for him.

The Reds chose not to replace Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer transfer window, a decision that has not necessarily backfired. However, James Milner is in the twilight of his career.

Liverpool could do well with a midfield reinforcement in time, especially if Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to struggle.

Liverpool have been looking at a number of midfielders in recent times including Franck Kessie, Jude Bellingham and others. Kozlowski is a viable target for the Merseyside outfit.

Pogon Szczecin will resist offers for Kozlowski in January. However, the Reds will seek to secure his services in the summer of 2022.
