Liverpool former defender Ryan Babel hinted that Cody Gakpo would happily move to Anfield. After Gakpo goal-scoring performance against Senegal in FIFA World Cup, Babel appreciates the 23-year-old player that defenders are struggling to deal with him.
The ex-Liverpool defender said :
“I first became aware of Gakpo’s talent and qualities in the 2019-20 season. He was performing well for PSV Eindhoven but also for the second team of the Dutch squad. He is doing it for the Netherlands at this World Cup — he has two goals already and looks to be the man in form.
“His skills are very diversified. He’s able to go outside his full-back, he has the pace to run behind the defenders centrally, and he can cut inside from the left and shoot.
“You’ve seen it during the group stages — defenders know he can do many things and that puts a slight doubt in their minds about what to do.
“Scouts would have told players to defend against Gakpo’s right foot but he has already scored with a header and using his left.”
The Netherlands are unbeaten in the World Cup and they are already in the Knockout Stage where they will face USA on Dec 03.
Cody Gakpo’s Anfield move is not as easy as the former Liverpool defender said
Signing Cody Gakpo is not a ‘grasping at straws’ because Europe’s top clubs are also behind him. In an interview Gakpo was asked about his next move, and he responded ;
“I think at the end of this season I will be ready to take that step. World”s top team, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. It would be an honor to play there, but I also have to see what kind of team I can best benefit from.” would be right.”
Liverpool struggling phase
After the departure of Mane, Liverpool is struggling in their attack, so this winter transfer they are considering signing forwards.
The Red’s target
The Reds are also interested in Ajax’s Forward Mohammed Kudus and in Borussia Dortmund Midfielder Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham is considered their top target. His price could go to more than €100M, but getting him would be not as easy as it looks. There are some top clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City who also want to get him.
Liverpool already lose Konrad Laimer now losing Kudus or Gakpo or Bellingham would be a huge shame for the Reds.
