Liverpool has already explained why they won’t repeat the £100m Chelsea transfer mistake.

Liverpool

Chelsea’s last summer transfer marquee striker signing Romelu Lukaku has struggled badly at Stamford Bridge. But Liverpool is unlikely to make the same error with their own big striker signing Darwin Nunez as Chelsea made with their transfer signing.

OVERPAYING FOR PLAYERS IS A MISTAKE LIVERPOOL HAS AVOIDED TILL NOW

The list of the most expensive football transfers of all time is littered. It is littered with unsuccessful signings and billions of pounds wasted. If you think realistically Kylian Mbappe and Neymar can be described as flops. They are not paid so much money just to merely win Ligue 1 most seasons. Spending big transfer fees recklessly was done by Barcelona.

Their big transfer signings Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele, and Philipe Coutinho were sold for very less transfer fees than they were bought for. Joao Felix and Jack Grealish are still yet to impress Athletico Madrid and Manchester City respectively. Although, there’s still time for them to improve.

LIVERPOOL LOOKING TO AVOID CHELSEA TRANSFER MISTAKE

Another questionable transfer was Chelsea resigning Lukaku from Inter for a reported fee of £97.5 million ahead of the 2021/22 season. Although, it was a big mistake to sign the Belgian striker. It was such a big mistake that he has requested to return to the Italian side on loan. With the failure of the attacker at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool supporters will be little concerned if Darwin Nunez will succeed or not. He had a spectacular season in Portugal. Although, Lukaku had much brilliant tack of performances at Inter in Italy. However, there is one key difference that is the man- management of Tuchel and Klopp. Lukaku for Chelsea was an emotional comeback signing. Although, Nunez for Klopp is a like-for-like replacement for Sadio Mane, who is going to Bayern. He is a signing that will prosper under the attacking style of Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp is also ready to try different formations. This will benefit the Portuguese striker to adapt to playing different formations. Klopp also likes to talk to his players about their strengths and weaknesses. This helps Jurgen generally get the best out of the player. As the Liverpool manager said after completing the signing of Darwin Nunez, “He is as excited by us as we are by him, which makes for a great relationship when you appreciate each other’s strengths. The case of Lukaku felt different. There was a disconnect between the manager and the player from day one. Although, Liverpool have a much more efficient strategy of getting the best out of their new signings.
