Liverpool hold talks to sign Chelsea’s Mason Mount

Liverpool FC have hold talks to sign Chelsea’s midfielder Mason Mount in the summer transfer window.

Reds needs a star midfielder in their squad and Mount has come up as a potential target to them. Liverpool needs young blood at the middle of the park due to their ageing midfield comprising of Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson.

Mount is out of contract in 2024 and reportedly not signing a new deal at Chelsea. Due to which, Liverpool are keen on making the best of the opportunity and sign the midfielder on a bargain price in the summer.

Goal reported that Liverpool officials have held productive talks over a deal to sign Mount for Chelsea. However, it suggests that Reds are happy to meet his wage demands in the summer.

The Daily Mail claims that Mount want to triple his current £80,000-a-week wages, meaning he is demanding a wage around £250,000-a-week. The wage demands looks little bit high but it matches Mount’s caliver and ability. And reportedly, Liverpool seem to happy to pay this kind of money having wanted Mount for many years.

The report suggests that Liverpool came close to signing Mount at under-16 level with Micheal Beale key to persuit. However, that move didn’t happen but Mount may finally his way to Mersyside this summer.

Mount is also getting intrest from other clubs in Europe. Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and even Bayern Munich have been linked with the midfielder.

But, Liverpool are favourites to sign Mount in the summer. Mount’s work rate, energy and ability in tha ball are perfect for Klopp’s style of play.
