Liverpool in for an unexpected deal in the summer transfer window this season

Liverpool over the years have made sure that they have enough depth in their team. They also have substantial strength in the goalkeeping department.

Alisson Becker has been their go-to goalkeeper over the past 4 years. Alisson has proved worthy of his hefty transfer value of £65million. The Brazilian has been providing decisive performances for the Merseyside club and winning them trophies. His stellar performances have given the team five trophies with more to come this season.

Though Alisson has been ever-present under the goal, he was entrusted with an able second-in-command over the seasons. This time it was Caoimhin Kelleher.

The Republic of Ireland international has been playing the role of the deputy very well this season. His most memorable outing was helping the Reds win the Carabao Cup against Chelsea.

Though, Liverpool have a strong goalkeeping lineup in standby. still, there seems to be a player who has been forgotten in recent months.

Adrian was signed by Jurgen Klopp in the summer of 2019, to be Alisson’s deputy. He was signed after Simon Mignolet moved to Club Brugge. In his debut season, Adrian played a key role in winning t hree major trophies for the Reds.

However, after making 18 appearances in that season, he got the nod to play only six times. After that he seemed to have been sunk to oblivion as this season he only played one match.

Will Adrian stay back at Liverpool?

The Spaniard signed a new contract last year that kept him at Anfield for another year. However, it is not clear if that contract extends beyond this season. Moreover, now as Kelleher is deemed as the number two goalkeeper, it is thought Adrian may look for an alternative if he wants to play more first-team football.

The German coach has always worked with three goalkeepers from the start of his career at Liverpool. His first time in charge saw him bring in Loris Karius and Alex Manninger.

If Adrian leaves at the end of the season, Klopp would definitely look for his third-choice goalkeeper.
