Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praises Newcastle United’s transfer skills

During their pre-match press conference, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made several positive comments regarding Newcastle United’s team, management, and transfer business.

The Magpies‘ recent clash with Aston Villa greatly impressed the Reds manager. With the most impressive part being’s the team’s remarkable counterattack.

“Newcastle is an incredible strong team. Qualify for the Champions League, fully deserved. Super development on the Eddie Hall… In the end how they use their counter attacks and stuff like that was absolutely exceptional.”

The manager described the club as a tough opponent, positively remarking on the results of their previous matches. However he assured journalist his team is as prepared as they could possibly be.

Furthermore, Klopp gave additional praise to Eddie Howe and his exceptional business decision.

“Smart business – don’t want to miss anybody but the two standout signings this window are Tonali and Barnes. Really good business. Super intense style.”

The Newcastle transfer comment and its ties to the current Liverpool situation

At this point in time, Liverpool is yet to sign more than three players, two of which joined at the very beginning of the window. With most of their following targets choosing rival clubs such as Chelsea in the case of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo.

Moreover, the club’s current signing attempts are yet to be fruitful. The Reds recently made a bid for Ryan Gravenberch that was twice his market value. Yet Bayern Munich rejected the proposal against all odds.

Liverpool also made contact with Feyenoord to negotiate potential transfers. the club had its eyes on a particular couple, those being David Hancko and Mats Wieffer. Sadly, the Reds are left in the dark as Feyenoord are yet to set their price.

With this context in mind, Klopp seems to be taken aback by both Eddie Howe’s skill and luck.
