Liverpool are on the market to sign a new midfielder this season. Injuries have plagued the Liverpool midfield this season. Oxlade Chamberlain and Curtis Jones are all out of the squad after picking up injuries. As a result, Jurgen Klopp wants to add some more quality to his side before deadline day reaches.

Liverpool are looking in the Premier League itself to alleviate their midfield woes. They have enquired about Aston Villa player Jacob Ramsey. Ramsey is a young talent who burst into Premier League last season with a brilliant performance for Villa. Last season, Ramsey scored six goals from the midfield. He is a key player for Steven Gerrard and it is unlikely that he will exit Aston Villa. Liverpool are also looking to sign Brighton player Moises Caicedo. However, multiple reports are claiming that the player is not interested in a move to Anfield this season.

Liverpool boss speaks up about signing a new midfielder

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp addressed the growing demands of signing a new midfielder this season. Klopp emphasised that Liverpool needs the right kind of midfielder this season, not just any midfielder. Klopp said:

The thing is, it is easy for us to bring a midfielder in but it is not so easy to bring the right midfielder in. There are money reasons and contractual reasons which, most of the time, go hand-in-hand.
It’s not that we deny signing a player if we have a problem with injuries, for example, but it is a complete different situation to the beginning of the pre-season when everybody told me Liverpool needed a new midfielder and that was about the kind of midfielder.

“That is a completely different discussion. We didn’t need a different kind of midfielder but if the right midfielder would have been available, we would have gone then as well.

“Now the situation has changed slightly: Liverpool have more injuries, that’s true. But it can still only be about the right [player] and that is not easy. It is nothing to do with that it is now August already and at the end of August, the transfer window closes”.
