Liverpool player claims Jurgen Klopp is playing him in the wrong position

Liverpool man Trent Alexander-Arnold says manager Jurgen Klopp keeps playing him in the wrong position. Trent has recently became the vice-captain of Liverpool. Owing to the arrival of many midfielders, Klopp has to juggle his players for Premier League and cup games. Though, the German is suffering with a lot of injured absentees as well. Players like Thiago, Stefan Bajcetic and Jones are unavailable due to injuries. Due to this, the manager recently said that Trent might get a run in the midfield role. Speaking to The Times, Trent had his say on this.

“My specific skill set and what I’m best at is someone who plays in the middle, someone who controls the game, controls the tempo, creates, breaks line, progresses the ball up the pitch,” says the 25-year-old.

You probably get more out of me from being in the middle and I’m able to show off that skill set as much as possible. My role is to go and create and make things happen, control the game in the middle of the pitch, get the ball on to the attackers, play forward, run forward, goals, assists, create chances, get people off their seats.”

It is clear that the Englishman loves playing in the midfield. His game was immensely improved when he got an inverted role during the last season as well. However, Klopp still has a lot of options for the midfield despite injuries. The only spot vacant for a specialist is the defensive midfielder. Though, Trent might not be the ideal for that role. The England international is recently linked with a move away from Anfield. Moreover, his contract will be ending in 2025. Though, the Scouser wants to remain with his boyhood club in the future.
