Liverpool Pre-Season 2021-22: What to expect?

The Premier League commences from 14, August. All clubs are involved in their pre-season at this moment. Liverpool has certainly caught the eye of many Premier League fans. Fans are keen to see their center-back Virgil van Dijk returning from injury and their latest signing Ibrahima Konaté in action. Liverpool pre-season is action-packed.

Liverpool Pre-Season fixture:

The Reds got their pre-season campaign up and running with two 1-1 draws in mini-matches against Wacker Innsbruck and Stuttgart in Salzburg on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, The Reds played in a pair of 30-minutes. Over the course of the two games, Liverpool featured 22 players, including the new signing Ibrahima Konaté. Moreover, Divock Origi and Sadio Mane were on the scoresheet.

After that Liverpool played another German side FSV Mainz 05. The Reds claimed victory in their first 90-minute game of the season. A late own-goal from Luca Kilian saw Liverpool come out on top. In addition, the first-half team featured the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, James Milner, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah.

Further, Liverpool will play Hertha BSC, Athletic Club, and CA Osasuna before they kick off their Premier League campaign against Norwich City in the opening game of the season.

What does the Pre-Season means for the youngsters?

Klopp has always insisted that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough, and pre-season typically provides a glimpse at what is to come. Certainly, then you’ll be a part of the first team.

It’ll be interesting to watch the youngsters perform in the pre-season especially Harvey Elliott. The 18-year-old teenage sensation lit up the EFL Championship last season. Elliot scored 7 goals and provided 11 assists last season. It’ll be intriguing to see how Klopp utilises the teenager, whether he is sent out on another loan spell or breaks his way into the first team.
