Liverpool is eyeing significant midfield upgrades for the upcoming season, with potential moves for Khephren Thuram and Ryan Gravenberch.
According to journalist Dean Jones, the signings of Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram and Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch would provide an “unbelievable” improvement to Liverpool’s midfield. It will surpass the quality of their outgoing players.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool has been in discussions with Thuram’s agent, indicating a potential move to Anfield this summer. Moreover, Thuram showcased impressive form for Ligue 1 side Nice in the 2022/23 season. He managed to record two goals and eight assists in all competitions.
Liverpool’s interest in Gravenberch has also been confirmed by Michael Reschke, as reported by The Liverpool Echo. Reschke, in an interview with Sport1, stated that Liverpool is genuinely keen on acquiring the services of the Bayern Munich midfielder, highlighting the player’s quality.
Earlier this year, The Daily Mail reported that Liverpool had expressed interest in Gravenberch. With contact initiated between the club and the player’s representatives. The young midfielder, earning £152,381 per week, has garnered attention for his talent and potential.
Liverpool’s midfield strengthening efforts extend beyond Thuram and Gravenberch. Having managed to acquire the services of Brighton & Hove Albion playmaker Alexis Mac Allister for £35 million. Liverpool is optimistic about finalizing a deal for other players which include the likes of Gravenberch and Thuram.
A Big Upgrade for Liverpool in the Midfield Compared to Last Season
Jones, speaking to GIVEMESPORT, expressed his belief that the potential additions of Thuram and Gravenberch, along with Mac Allister. It would be a remarkable upgrade over the departing Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose contracts have expired. He emphasized the significance of strengthening this key area of Liverpool’s rebuild.
However, considering Lavia’s estimated price tag of £40 million and Gravenberch’s valuation at £44 million. Hence, it remains uncertain whether Liverpool would be willing to spend such substantial amounts on multiple midfielders.
Liverpool’s pursuit of new talent extends beyond Thuram and Gravenberch. Feyenoord captain Orkun Kokcu and Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone are reportedly high on Jurgen Klopp’s transfer wishlist at Anfield, according to FootballTransfers.
Additionally, there have been suggestions, as reported by Caught Offside, that Liverpool could consider Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram as a potential option to strengthen their forward line on a free transfer.
Southampton’s young talent Romeo Lavia has also attracted interest from Liverpool, along with several other Premier League clubs, as per Football Insider. These indications point towards a busy summer ahead for Liverpool as they prepare for the upcoming season.
