Liverpool has reportedly initiated talks to secure the signature of African starlet Pape Diop, according to the player’s agent, Gerald Sagoe. The 19-year-old, currently playing for Belgian side SV Zulte Waregem, is relatively inexperienced at the senior level. However, Liverpool has shown interest in the young midfielder following his impressive performances in the U20 World Cup.
Despite Senegal’s failure to progress past the group stage in the competition, Diop showcased his potential, scoring a goal in three appearances. In an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb, the player’s agent confirmed that Liverpool has reached out to discuss the possibility of signing the talented African prospect.
However, Sagoe acknowledges that securing Diop’s signature will not be an easy task for Liverpool. As several other European clubs are also exploring the opportunity to sign him. French and Italian teams, including Napoli, have expressed interest in the player. And further discussions are planned in Germany in the coming weeks.
Liverpool Pursuit of New Midfielders

In the event of Henderson’s departure, Liverpool would need to sign another midfielder. And Pape Diop could be a valuable addition for the long-term future.
