Naby Keita has had his nameplate removed from the Liverpool dressing room amidst ongoing injury issues

Keita is yet to play a football match since his injury in the Community Shield match where Liverpool trashed Manchester City 3-1. Moreover, he could only muster a short cameo for the Reds in that match. An aggravated injury to his hamstring has kept him out of action for four months now. Moreover, the recent signs have suggested that there is still a long way to go before he can play again in the Liverpool shirt. The 27-year-old was not included in any squad so far. Hence, he has had his nameplate removed from the Liverpool dressing room.

Normally, Keita‘s place is between Andy Robertson and Joel Matip. However, a recent photo posted on Reddit shows an empty spot in the place where his nameplate usually hangs. Calvin Ramsay’s shirt was hanging in the spot usually reserved for Keita. It looks like Liverpool have not made a place for the Scotsman yet. Ramsay signed for Liverpool in 2022 from Aberdeen on a five-year contract for a fee of £4.2 million. However, he was not included in the squad because of his injury. However, he has recovered sufficiently now and was even named in the Champions League squad for Liverpool which took on Rangers.

The extent of his injury is so serious that he was recalled from his international duty despite being called by Guinea. Liverpool thinks that he will have sufficiently recovered by October. Jurgen Klopp said:

“No, I don’t expect him to go on international duty. The expected return date was somewhere in October, that’s why we had to make the decision. With Ox [Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain] it’s the same,”
