Liverpool will play their last Premier League match of this campaign with the hope of winning it in their mind. The Reds from Merseyside need Manchester City to slip up in their last fixture against Aston Villa.

Not only that, but they also need to make sure they secure all three points against Wolves at Anfield.

Klopp’s wish for Origi

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp already confirmed that Divock Origi will play his last game at Anfield on Sunday. The Belgian is expected to get a large round of applause from the home fans. In recent years, he’s been mostly a ‘bits and pieces’ player for Klopp’s side. But the striker scored some memorable, crucial goals for his side too including the winner in the tie against Barcelona.

“I expect Div to get a special farewell,” he said. “For me, he will always be a Liverpool legend and it has been a joy to work with him.” He continued:

“He’s one of the most important players I ever had. Wherever he will go he will be successful, 100 per cent. I remember so many things when I think about Div. Goals, ups and downs. He is a Liverpool legend, no doubt.”

Deschamps snubbed Konate from the latest France national team squad, absence clarified

Ibrahima Konate has been nothing short of excellent for Liverpool in the recent matches. He paired up with Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the defence and has been crucial for The Reds in the Champions League and other cup competitions. But that was not enough for him to make into Didier Deschamps’ squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League.

“He’s in a team which is competing in the Champions League final and for the title in England”, Deschamps said.

“But since he’s been at Liverpool, he’s mostly played in a four-man defence and there is competition [in the France squad]. I brought William last time and he always plays in a back three. It’s either one or the other.”

Deschamps opted for Presnel Kimpembe, Jules Kounde, William Saliba, Raphael Varane and Lucas Hernandez as his centre-back options.
