Reports suggest that Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram has expressed a desire to join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool during the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Fabrizio Romano on Born and Red, Liverpool has shown interest in securing the services of Khephren Thuram from Nice. The 22-year-old French midfielder is reportedly keen to make the switch to the Premier League outfit.
However, Romano notes that Liverpool is not entirely satisfied with the current terms surrounding the potential deal. While they want to bring in Thuram, they feel the negotiations have become expensive for both parties involved.
Recent reports also indicate that Newcastle United is in the race to sign Thuram. As he was recently praised as “fantastic” by Nice’s former caretaker-manager Didier Digard on RMC Sport.
Romano explains,
“For example, a player like Khephren Thuram has always been on the list at Liverpool. But now the situation is more kind of cold because Liverpool is not happy with the reaction from the player’s side and the club’s side. They believe that the deal is very expensive for both parties. That is why they have prioritized signings like Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.”
However, Romano mentions that Thuram has always been appreciated by Liverpool. And if the terms can be modified in the coming weeks, the situation might change.
Liverpool Pursuit of Kephren Thuram
Liverpool’s interest in Thuram, combined with the player’s willingness to move to Anfield. It creates the possibility of a potential transfer in the summer window. By continuing their pursuit in the coming weeks, all parties might be able to find common ground and reach an agreement.
During the previous season, Thuram made 30 starts and five substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Nice. The young Frenchman showcased his abilities by contributing two goals and four assists in those games.
As Liverpool evaluates its options and works toward bolstering its squad, Thuram remains an appealing target. The coming weeks will determine whether the Reds can secure his signature and add him to their ranks ahead of the new season.
