Liverpool to sign ‘more offensive than Thiago’ player

Former Reds star Jose Enrique backed his club Liverpool to sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer. Although at the moment, the North London club Tottenham Hotspurs are leading the race to sign him.

Kristof Terreur, the Belgian journalsit claimed that Eriksen wants to stay in London. This might give the Antonio Conte-led side the much needed edge to land the Danish star. Enrique is all praise for the midfielder who played for Brentford in the recently concluded campaign in Premier League. Just days back he also posted an Instagram story where he mentioned the player as being ‘more offensive’ than Liverpool’s Thiago.

“Another interesting player that could be our solution to our midfield. And spending nothing because he is a free agent.”

He added:

“He is a short-term solution but then we can wait for Bellingham next season – He will play if he deserves to play like everyone else. Eriksen is a top player and I believe he can compete for a starting spot in our XI. The season is very long.”

“He is that kind of player, like Thiago, but maybe a little bit more offensive. But Thiago is our magician.”

Tottenham ahead of Liverpool?

Christian Eriksen had been a mainstay for Tottenham for many years. It was on the white side of North London where he honed his skills and made his presence known to the world. So it gives Spurs the edge to sign the coveted playmaker this summer on a free transfer. Also with Champions League football back for Tottenham, the Danish star will look to prove himself again at the highest level after his big break since Euro 2020.

His contract at Brentford will expire at the end of this month and he needs to make this crucial call. But in the hindsight, Brentford were the only club in PL to put faith in him after the big break. Only time will tell if he would repay that trust by staying in West London.
