Premier League returns in all of it glory this weekend after the secretly(widely) despised International break. Although the return of the Premier league instills enough happiness. However, Liverpool vs Manchester City clash makes the weekend a festival in itself. For the past 3-4 years Liverpool have been the only consistent challengers for Man City to the Premier League title. So much so that they even snatched the title in 2021, amidst a decade of Man City dominance.

Liverpool vs Manchester city injuries and squad list

Liverpool and Manchester City both come into this fixture with good displays in their previous matches. However, the International break has served to ruin this momentum. Thus, the winner of this fixture would go away with a lot of confidence in their stride. This could even become a crucial factor in deciding the title race, not solely for the result but for the boost in mentality of the returning players.

Liverpool have already done a commendable job in catching up to Man city after the initial hiccups in their campaign. Liverpool have waned out their elder players and are now fielding a much younger and different squad than last year. Therefore, it becomes crucial for them to understand each other and play as a unit. This becomes more crucial when their opponents are the epitome of consistency and setting high standards in player performances.

Liverpool lads lament lingering injuries

Liverpool vs Manchester city, promises to be a classic even before its start. However, the evident drawback of the contact sport comes to taint the sparkle of the fixture once again. Liverpool face important injury scares ahead of the match. For instance, an important cog in Ibrahim Konate has been sidelined due to a slight hamstring issue(according to Echo). He also missed Liverpool’s previous match against Brentford.

Another major absentee could be the versatile defender, Joe Gomez. Incidentally, the strange thing is that he was removed from the squad for the last game without any updates on any injury. Thus, Liverpool would be praying for the mysterious ailment to heal sooner rather than later. This comes at a time when Liverpool are already lacking reinforcements in the defensive department. While Andy Robertson is sidelined for a long period due to a surgery on his dislocated shoulder.

In midfield too the times are dire as Thiago and the young talent Bajcetic are still out with injuries that have faced setbacks. However on the bright side, Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones will both make a comeback in the upcoming fixture, filling in for the gaps left by the fallen.
