Liverpool have been heavily dependent on Mohamed Salah ever since his arrival in 2017. The Egyptian international has been first choice right winger for the Reds for seven straight years. Salah has been clinical for the club. He had yet another great season achieving double figures in both goals and assists. In Premier League, the 31 year old winger scored 18 times and assisted 10 times. However the club should soon look for his replacement as age catches up with everyone. Liverpool in an attempt to find Salah’s heir are linked with 20 year old Chilean winger Dario Osorio.

Liverpool to make a move for Dario Osorio

The Reds are reported to be monitoring Osorio and planning to make a move for him. Osorio currently plays for Midtjylland. Midtjylland’s assistant to sporting director Ove Pedersen brought Osorio to the club. Speaking about Osorio’s future, Pedersen said that he can’t tell anything about the possible offers. He went on to praise Osorio and the season he had.

According to La Tercera, Liverpool are planning to pay around $8 million to $10 million for Osorio. However it is not certain that Midtjylland will accept this offer. The Danish club has a long term contract with Osorio and can use that to demand more money. Midtjylland paid reportedly around $5.62 million last year for Chilean international. Therefore it is certain that they will demand a price higher than what Liverpool are offering.

The Chilean international has only played one season in Europe until now. In his first season, he became champion of denmark with Midtjylland. The 20 year old winger made 23 appearances for the Danish club. He managed to score 8 goals along with providing 2 assists in those.

Osorio has also made his international debut for Chile’s senior team. He has played 8 matches for his country and scored a goal for them too. Osorio has been called up by Chile national team for the upcoming Copa America. Liverpool fans can get a glance of him in that tournament.

A little about Dario Osorio

Dario Osorio was born in Hijuelas, Chile in 2004. In 2015, Osorio joined Universidad De Chile. He was included in senior team in 2021 but was not fortunate to make his debut at that time. Osorio eventually made his professional debut in 2022 against Colo-Colo where he appeared on the scoresheet. Osorio represented Chile national team on various youth stages. In June 2022, he made his professional debut for the country at the age of 18. Liverpool are not the first Premier League team linked with Osorio. Last season Wolverhampton Wanderers were close to sign Osorio. However the young winger decided to move to Denmark.

Osorio likes to play on the right flank of the pitch. He has a strong left foot. Osorio likes to cut inside and launch powerful shots on the target. The Chilean’s attacking style has been compared with football legend Arjen Robben. Osorio is very clinical when it comes to finishing.

Who else is interested in Osorio

Along with Liverpool, the young winger has also been linked with West Ham. Infact, hammers were linked from way before to Osorio. They tried to sign Osorio last season but failed to beat Midtjylland in bidding war. This season with the new boss Julen Lopetegui, the hammers were hoping to go again for Chilean international. However now they have to clash with Liverpool if they want to land the 20 year old winger. It has also been reported that, the Reds are willing to pay double the money offered by Hammers. It won’t be a surprise if more big clubs join the race for Osorio after Copa America.
