Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan star Rafael Leao. He prefers to play as a left-winger.
Pep Guardiola wants a new left-winger to replace Jack Grealish at the club. Hence, they want to sign the AC Milan star in the next summer transfer window.
MANCHESTER CITY AND RAFAEL LEAO TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY
According to reports, Manchester City are interested in signing Rafael Leao from AC Milan. However, the deal will be a very difficult transfer to negotiate. The Portuguese winger is currently negotiating a new contract with the Serie-A side. However, he would refuse to sign a new contract if a top European side approaches him with their project.
The report also adds that AC Milan will not let him leave for a penny less than his release clause. Rafael Leao’s release clause is reportedly 150 million pounds. Then, we can add his salary, his signing-on bonus, and agent fees. The signing of Leao would cost any interested club including Manchester City about 175-200 million pounds in the next summer transfer market. Hence, it will be interesting to see where Rafael Leao ends up in the next summer transfer window.
PEP GUARDIOLA WILL BE ALMOST UNBEATABLE IF THEY SIGN THE AC MILAN STAR
The winger is attracting interest from big clubs. Chelsea were also linked with a move in this summer transfer window. The Blues made a verbal bid for Leao. However, AC Milan did not even consider the verbal bid. The reason is his impact on the upward fortunes of the club. He was one of the main reasons AC Milan managed to win the Serie A title.
Hence, it is no surprise that Manchester City are looking at him. Pep Guardiola did spend 100 million on signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa two seasons ago. However, Jack Grealish has failed to live up to his expectations. Therefore, it looks like Pep Guardiola will try to replace the England international with the Portuguese and AC Milan star.
PSG and Chelsea will also retain an interest in signing Rafael Leao. However, the interest of Manchester City will be too good to reject. The winger has already scored three goals and provided six assists in the eight games of this season.
