Former Manchester City striker Shaun Goater has claimed on Twitter that the club are so close to agreeing on the transfer to land the Dortmund star Erling Haaland. When asked about the transfer of Erling Haaland to Manchester City, he replied, “We are so close, I’m doing my best…”.

Manchester City still have not signed a proper replacement for the club legend and top goalscorer Sergio Aguero. The Argentine forward joined Barcelona in the summer on a free transfer. Pep Guardiola was keen to sign England and Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane. But the deal could not materialize despite the forward admitting his desire to join the Premier League champions.

Despite having one of the best attacks in the league, there are still debates whether the club needs to sign an out-and-out center-forward. The citizens have recorded 55 goals in 23 games this term so far. Pep Guardiola has deployed a ‘false 9’ system for the majority of the season.

The club have been scouting Argentina striker Julián Álvarez, Florentina striker Dušan Vlahović, Tottenham star Harry Kane and Dortmund star Erling Haaland.

Will Erling Haaland be a success at Manchester City?

Erling Haaland is widely expected to leave Borussia Dortmund next summer. As the Dortmund star will have a release clause in his contract next summer of €75 million. Haaland remains one of the most sought-after players in world football.

Alongside Manchester City, fellow Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea are all scouting the 21-year-old. Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen to sign the Dortmund forward.

If Pep Guardiola managed to sign the Dortmund star next summer. There is no doubt that he will be a massive success in the Premier League.
