As per several reports, Manchester City duo John Stones and Aymeric Laporte will be out for two weeks more as they recover from their injury. Following which Pep Guardiola and Manchester City will be deprived of the defensive duo for the next three big games.

John Stones is yet to make an appearance for Manchester City this season as he failed down the order after Laporte’s impressive performance. While Stones’ muscle injury during the international break has been another issue for his absence in the team.

Speaking of Aymeric Laporte, the Spaniard seemed to be a regular starter for Manchester City in the starting games of the season. Pep Guardiola saw Laporte’s protentional at the back in the pre-season as he was back early from the Euro. While following his great form he replaced John Stones at the back who was favorite for Guardiola last season. But his recent Groin injury has been set back as he is out of the team for few weeks.

And following the injuries of Stones and Laporte, City have to go the next two weeks without the defensive duo. This seems a bit challenging for Guardiola who has to face Chelsea this week. While Paris Saint-Germain are waiting for Manchester City on the second day of the Champions League next week. And City will also face Liverpool in the same week.

Manchester City have options of Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake for replacing John Stones and Aymeric Laporte

Losing two of your best defenders at the same time can be hard to fill, but not for Manchester City. Despite not having the options of Stones and Laporte, City will be placing Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake as centre-back pairs.

There is no need for introducing Ruben Dias who has been a solid rock at the back for City last season. Following which he was Manchester City’s player of the year and UEFA defender of the year. While the Portuguese is carrying his form this season also as Guardiola trusts him with regular time at the back.

Nathan Ake who has been with Manchester City since 2020 has not got many chances to prove himself. But the Dutchman has now been given the opportunity of regular start after two centre-back injuries for City. And grabbing the opportunity he is showing his ability at the back to be named a regular starter. While Pep Guardiola will be hoping to see Nathan Ake at his best for Manchester City’s next three big fixtures.
