According to several reports, Manchester City have not given up on signing Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic. The Cityzens were after the Serbian youngster this summer offering almost €70 million for his signature. But the deal was rejected as Vlahovic promised to stay at Fiorentina to the club president. However, Manchester City will be again bidding for Dusan Vlahovic in January or in the next summer transfer window.
The youngster was a nobody in European football before joining Fiorentina in 2018. Dusan Vlahovic got the fame after scoring 21 goals in 37 games last season in Serie A. He was fourth among the Serie A top scores missing the third spot to Luis Muriel by only one goal. While he has also started the 2021/22 season with a bang scoring 5 goals in 4 games.
Following his uprising form, there should be no doubt top European clubs approached Fiorentina to sign the youngster. The list includes names like Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City. However, Madrid, Atletico, and Tottenham seem to pull out of interest as they got their options. But Manchester City are still keeping tabs on Dusan Vlahovic.
After a fail pursuit for Harry Kane this summer, City were looking forward to signing the Serbian youngster. But that plan also failed as Fiorentina rejected City’s €70 million bid for Vlahovic in the last days of the transfer market. Following that Fiorentina will make the youngster sign a new contract which will include a sell clause of more than €80 million.
However, the money is not a problem for Manchester City as they will be back for signing the striker in 2022. And Fiorentina might accept the bid as the club has promised to let go of the youngster if the right offer comes next season.
What will Dusan Vlahovic bring to Manchster City?
It is an open secret that Manchester City are in the market for a natural striker after letting leave Sergio Aguero for free. The Cityzens were highly linked with Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane all summer over a move. But Spurs were not ready to let go of their forward at any cost. And speaking of any cost, Manchester City reportedly offered more than €120 million for the forward.
While now it is rumored that Harry Kane will be signing a new contract with the North London club. Following which City have turned towards Dusan Vlahovic. The youngster has already shown what ability he has got upfront following his form last season. The forward has the ability to run fast, dodging players, power shot, and climbing header all a striker should have. And there is no doubt he would be more than perfect for Pep Guardiola and City in the upfront.
