Manchester City Initiates ‘Fresh Contact’ in Pursuit of Young Forward

After initial speculations regarding Manchester City interest in Lyon winger Bradley Barcola. It appears that the pursuit is gaining momentum.

Journalist Gianluigi Longari has reported on Twitter that there has been a renewed interaction between the two clubs concerning the potential transfer.

Barcola is rumored to be among the summer targets that Manchester City is considering, as they strive to find a replacement for Riyad Mahrez.

However, details about the exact amount that Pep Guardiola’s team is prepared to invest in this transfer are currently unavailable.

As recently as yesterday, the French media was abuzz with discussions about Manchester City’s pursuits. Reports indicated that in addition to their interest in Barcelona, they were also considering Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Rennes’ Jeremy Doku for their target list.

Regarding the Lyon player, it was in suggestion that securing his signature this summer might prove to be challenging. His current club had reportedly rejected an offer of over €30 million from Paris Saint-Germain. And they seemed inclined to maintain their resistance even if an offer came in from an English club.

Despite Transfermarkt estimating Bradley Barcola’s value at €20 million, the initiation of these fresh negotiations might signal that Manchester City could potentially need to double that amount or more to successfully secure his signing.

Manchester City and their future plans

Manchester City’s initial bid of £70 million for West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta has reportedly been in rejection. However, reports suggest that a second offer is in the works. Should negotiations proceed positively. Bradley Barcola might follow in Paqueta’s footsteps and sign with the reigning champions, potentially marking an exciting double acquisition.

Moreover, Barcola’s potential move could replicate the path taken by Paqueta. The Lyon player, who earns £6,000 per week, has been impressive on the field. He has contributed to a total of 19 goals, comprising seven goals and twelve assists, in 44 senior appearances for his club. Notably, he ranked in the 94th percentile for attacking touches within the opposition’s penalty area during the previous season. This statistic underscores his commitment to creating scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates in the attacking third. Barcola’s stellar performances even earned him three man-of-the-match awards from WhoScored.
