Manchester City player Rating VS Brighton

Manchester City took on Brighton at Etihad in the Premier League. Manchester City ended up winning the game 3-0 courtesy of Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva. With the win, Manchester City displaces Liverpool to reclaim their spot at the top of the league. Here are the Manchester City player ratings.

Manchester City Starting XI

Ederson – Didn’t have much to do as the defense did most of the hard work. A very normal game and a useful clean sheet for Ederson.

Joao Cancelo – Went forward in a couple of attacks and made some decent attacks. Didn’t have much to do defensively.

John Stones – Had a quiet game overall as Brighton didn’t look too threatening.

Aymeric Laporte – The defense in general didn’t have much to do as the Brighton attack didn’t have a lot of possession.

Nathan Ake – Offered support moving forward however had to substitute in the second half due to injury.

Rodri – Rodri was the piece of the puzzle missing in the FA Cup semi-final and he proved it in this game. He made the transition from defense to attack possible.

Ilkay Gundogan – Lost possession more than once and slowed down the attack.

Bernardo Silva – Was at his usual best and scored the third goal. Another stunning performance from the Portuguese.

Kevin De Bruyne – Took control of the midfield. Another masterclass from the De Bruyne assisted the opener from Mahrez and was rightfully adjudged man of the match.

Phil FodenFoden continues his impressive form and scored to back it off. Another tireless and energetic performance from Foden. Foden continues to impress at a young age.

Riyad Mahrez – A disappointing first half was met with an explosive second half and scored the opener.

Subs

Ruben Dias – Manchester City had a solid attack game plan which meant they had possession for a long period of time. Hence, Brighton never got an opportunity to attack and Dias didn’t have much to do.
