Manchester City player ratings vs Atletico Madrid

Manchester City took on Atletico Madrid on 6 April. City looked to be in total control of the game however they were unable to execute the final pass. However, this quickly changed as Kevin De Bruyne shot into the bottom corner and beat Oblak. City have the advantage by leading 1-0 over Atletico Madrid going into the second leg.

Ederson

Didn’t have much to do in the first half, and rarely touched the ball. Had to do a bit more in the second half but was able to deal with it easily.

Did well defensively by stopping attacks and intercepting however made a lot of misplaced crosses in the game.

Stones never had any problems against the duo of Griezman and Felix and did well.

Laporte did very well stopping Atletico’s counterattacks which shouldn’t be too surprising considering he came to England from La Liga.

Was up against Atletico attackers and held his own. He executed the offside traps seamlessly.

Rodri did start a couple of attacks however misplaced a lot of passes which is unusual considering his standards.

Kevin De Bruyne

Continued his brilliant form in the game. As usual, brings his A-game against top sides. Scored the winning goal and was the difference between both teams and was rightfully adjudged man of the match.

Ilkay Gundogan

Had a big chance during the match which he spoiled. Made some decent defensive actions throughout the match. Subbed after an hour or so.

Bernardo Silva

Bernardo had a very quiet game. But his presence allowed De Bruyne to freely move forward.

Played a couple of good balls into the box. However, he couldn’t do much against Atletico’s defense.

Sterling was quiet and looked to play the simple game.

Foden made an instant impact by assisting De Bruyne and securing a crucial victory for City.

Made an unnecessary tackle and got booked. He is out of the second leg due to suspension.
