Manchester City Player Ratings vs Liverpool

Manchester City took on Liverpool on Sunday at the Etihad stadium. The match was arguably the biggest match in the league and it did not disappoint. The game went on to draw 2-2 with City having a one-point lead over Liverpool.

Starting XI

Ederson

He gave up an easy goal to Jota and almost gave another but made a goal-line clearance of his own mistake. Wasn’t at fault for the second goal. Somehow managed to remain composed.

Kyle Walker

Opened up the Liverpool defense when he moved forward and was excellent overall.

John Stones

There was some miscommunication with Walker that led to the Mane goal however was very excellent besides the error. He was very efficient in the back three.

Aymeric Laporte

Laporte did his best in the game. Made a crucial tackle on Jota denying Liverpool a goal and was solid throughout the game.

Joao Cancelo

Cancelo had a difficult time last time City played Liverpool however he came back prepared and dropped a masterclass performance.

Rodri

Rodri had an easy time in the first half flying past the defense. Things changed when Liverpool arrived much composed and he had to drop back deep.

Bernardo Silva

Silva as usual was at his best. Brought his ‘A’ game against Liverpool and was dancing around the defense.

Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne was lucky for his goal. However, he was unlucky that his assist to Jesus was called off as it was offside. Kevin De Bruyne as usual showed why he is the best midfielder in the Premier League.

Gabriel Jesus

Jesus was good in the first half and scored a goal with a nice finish. He also made a couple of good attacking runs as well. However, he was a tad too selfish in the second half which made Guardiola visibly frustrated.

Phil Foden

Foden was the standout player for City. Danced around through the City defense and was enjoying the game. He created havoc among the City players.

Raheem Sterling

Was denied a goal by VAR because of being over the line and getting caught offside and was also denied in the early part of the first half
