According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Anderlecht for Sergio Gomez. However, Gomez is not a first-team player as of yet. He is a player who City are buying to further the development process to join them at a later date. He will be loaned out to one of the other groups of the City Group clubs.
City had their first two bids for Sergio Gomez rejected by Anderlecht. However, now, according to the report by Romano, the clubs have reached a full verbal agreement for the player. City have made an offer worth €15m plus bonuses to the player’s agent. The final details of the contract will be hashed out by the two clubs. However, as things stand, City has a four-year deal ready for Gomez. Moreover, City have already scheduled his medical which will make him a player in earnest.
City’s other transfer targets
As things stand, City are on the market for a left-back this summer. They were chasing Brighton’s Marc Cucurella to play the position. However, Chelsea swooped in on the player when City had their initial bid rejected by Brighton. Now. City are keen on acquiring the signature of left-back Raphael Guerreiro. The 28 year old plays as a left-back for Borrusia Dortmund. He has made 189 appearances for Dortmund and has scored 34 goals and has had 37 assists for the club.
City have had some major exits this summer. Gabriel Jesus left City to join Arsenal this summer. Raheem Sterling also left to play for Chelsea this season. City’s primary left-back Oleksander Zinchenko also left to play for Arsenal this summer. Moreover, they have had a few amazing arrivals this summer. Wonderkid Erling Haaland has joined Manchester City this season. Also, Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips has joined the Citizens this summer to further bolster their squad.
