According to several reports, Manchester City wants to lead the race for signing Erling Haaland as the Cityzens have scheduled talks with agent Mino Raiola. The Norwegian star has been in the spotlight since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2020. While the forward will be the main man in the next summer transfer window with several top clubs keeping tabs on him.
Joining Dortmund, Haaland has shown what he is capable of doing on the pitch as his current stats stand on 68 goals in 67 games. Following this, there should be no doubt why clubs like Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City are eager to sign the youngster. But Dortmund are doing their best to not lose their star forward very soon.
There was a similar craze for signing Haaland this summer as it was earlier in the last winter and summer transfer window. But the youngster decided to stay one year more this season as Dortmund qualified for the Champions League group stage. However, talking about next summer transfer window it seems a bit difficult to convince Haaland to stay.
Borussia Dortmund are no doubt a great club, but not to the level of Real Madrid, Chelsea, or Manchester City currently. Following which Haaland will look to hunt for more trophies signing for any other big clubs who are currently a great force in Europe.
Talking about great force, Manchester City led by Pep Guardiola should be top 10 clubs currently in the rankings. And bringing Haaland to Etihad will only make City a much better team, as a result, the Premier League wants to sign the youngster. As per reports, City will hold talks with Haaland’s agent Mino Railo in January for a potential summer transfer next season.
Why do Manchester City need Erling Haaland next season?
Manchester City have a great team in their hands currently with great backup options, but they are lacking in one position. Currently, Pep Guardiola has no forward who has the ability to play as number 9 in the upfront. Following which Guardiola has to deploy his midfielders in the scoring department which is not so convincing.
The Cityzens went all out to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane this summer offering almost 150 million. But Spurs were not ready to let go of the England Captain despite such a huge offer. Following which Manchester City missed on signing any other options and had to move on without a number 9 in the squad. But they would surely be planning on adding a new striker with Haaland’s talks schedule in January. However, it would not be easy to sign the youngster as there would be great competition in the transfer market for Haaland.
