According to reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are set to complete and announce the signing of Atletico Mineiro’s young prospect Savinho. The transfer fee is reported to be around €6.5 million-plus a sell-on clause and future add-ons.

Reports back in February suggested that Manchester City were leading the race to land the young prospect. The likes of Arsenal and Red Bull Group were also scouting the Brazilian prospect. But reports now suggest that the City Football Group have beaten the competition and have completed the signing of Savinho.

Savinho is labeled as one of the best talents coming through in the Brazilain league. He made club history by becoming the youngest player to represent Atletico Mineiro in the Brazilian top-flight back in 2021. He made his senior debut at the age of just 16 years and five months.

The Brazilain winger has made a total of 23 appearances in the senior team across different competitions. At this time he is still yet to register his first senior goal or assist. But he has shown plenty of positives and potential. (stats via Transfermarkt)

The City football group have been able to acquire plenty of talent from across the globe in the past few seasons. Brexit ruled mean that the Premier League sides can acquire talent from Brazil and Argentina way easier than other top sides in Europe. City Football Group have signed the likes of Kayky, Yan Couto, Talles Magno, and Metinho from the Brazilain league in the past few seasons.

Can Savinho be succesful at Manchester City?

The Brazilain winger is one of the brightest prospects in the world at the moment. The winger regularly plays on the right-wing. He is known for cutting inside from the right-wing and looking for a goal or a pass. The young prospect is a big fan of Arjen Robben. The winger is also being compared to Ajax winger Antony. Antony also joined Ajax from the Brazilain league and is now a regular player in the Brazil national team.

The example of Gabriel Jesus is perfect in this case. Gabriel Jesus joined Manchester City from Brazilain club Palmeiras back in 2016. Jesus joined the citizens as a 19-year-old. But he is still a key part of Pep Guardiola’s side. Jesus has made a total of 223 appearances in all competitions for the citizens. In this time he has recorded 88 goals and 43 assists. While it may be difficult for Savinho to settle into the new country at such a young age. On top of that moving to a top league such as the Premier League may be a difficult change. But the young prospect has shown plenty of potentials and could really be the future of the club.
