Manchester City star Bernardo Silva clarifies rumours about his future

Manchester City

Manchester City have lost over 18 players this season either by loan or transfer, which Silva might just join.

Man City have only made two confirmed signings, those being Matteo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol. And while they are attempting to enlist Jeremy Doku, there hasn’t been any definitive confirmation from any official source.

The transfers out the club, on the other hand, were aplenty. Man City have made £72.83 million averaging around £4 million for each player. A number that surprisingly still doesn’t cover the expenses of the £77 million rated Josko Gvardiol.

And while many of the current players who pondered the idea as well, none were as indecisive as Bernardo Silva. The 29 year old has stated on several occasions his desire to leave the club. However the Portuguese was very “particular” about his hopes for the future.

The man in question has hopes of joining one of the many clubs of the Spanish league (La Liga). Furthermore, the midfielder has shown little interest in any club besides Barcelona, which might make his hopes an impossibility.

The club was very accepting of the player’s decision. He was allowed to leave so long as the new club, in this case Barca, pay his worth. Barcelona’s manager Xavi has also shown his interest in the 29 year old, however, it simply was not an option.

The young man is estimated to be worth at least £70 million. Thus Barca, despite their desire and need for the player cannot sign him. As the current financial situation of the club simply won’t allow it, unless they trade away some of their own.

Silva’s future in Manchester city

The athlete recently confirmed he will be extending his contract until 2026. It remains unclear if Barca’s current capabilities were a factor in this decision. However, with the current state of City’s roster, there is one thing that is clear : Manchester city needs Silva.
