David Silva

Manchester City will hope to have a smooth summer as the departure of Ilkay Gundogan is still in the air. There is still a chance that Ilkay Gundogan may leave this summer. These past two years have been a bit hectic for Manchester City. Furthermore Guardiola was seen changing up his tactics a lot this season. They sold some of their star players like Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Aleks Zinchenko and Fernandinho. But they also signed some of the high rated young players like Erling Haaland,  Julian Alvarez, Manuel Akanji and Kalvin Phillips. The signing of Haaland is the beginning of a new era of City under Guardiola. Furthermore the Sky Blues look far better than ever. Therefore Guardiola will definitely be hoping for a peaceful summer transfer window. But one of their biggest star player Ilkay Gundogan is out of contract this summer.

Manchester City to have two potential captains if Ilkay Gundogan leave

Ilkay Gundogan is yet to agree on a new deal with Manchester City and Barcelona are looking to scoop in and sign the player. De Bruyne would be the prime prospect of Gundogan does decide to leave this summer. De Bruyne is one of the oldest Manchester City player in the dressing room. He is already the vice-captain of the City squad. Therefore it is pretty hard to look past De Bruyne and appoint somebody else as the Manchester City captain. Another player who have the potential to be City’s captain is Ruben Dias. What Dias lacks to De Bruyne is experience. But the player makes up for his lack of years of experience by the fire and passion at the backline. Dias leads the team not only at the backline but he also inspires the team to push forward on the pitch.

Therefore Ruben Dias is also a potential candidate for the captaincy of Manchester City. All these would be an option for City if Gundogan decides to leave the Etihad Stadium. Whatever happens, Guardiola could rest assured that his team consists of potential leaders on the pitch.
