Manchester City are considering a move for ace Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong in return for Raheem Sterling, according to El Nacional. Frenkie is rated as one of the best midfielders in the world and his presence in midfield is beneficial to any team accross the world.
According to reports, Xavi wants players who can offer width and has the ability to dribble past defenders. While one such player who meets their demands is Raheem Sterling but City are not willing to let him go easily. However, the Citizens might let Sterling leave if a swap deal involving de Jong is offered to them.
Frenkie is one of the core players for Barcelona and the club would not like to see him go at any cost. Besides, he has the potential to be the best midfielder in the world in near future. Due to the lack of quality performances from Barcelona, he has not been able to make much of an impact this season. However, with the appointment of Xavi, he may want to offload some players from the club. But the signing of Frenkie won’t be that easy for the Citizens. However, a signing like de Jong does not sound very economical and can see City lose Sterling in the deal.
