Manchester United and Bayern Munich are reportedly tracking the future of Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.
MANCHESTER UNITED AND BAYERN MUNICH ARE INTERESTED IN DUMFRIES FULL STORY.
The 26-year-old defender has just completed his first season at the San Siro. The wingback while in his 33 outings has contributed five goals and four assists. The Netherlands’ international favoured position is a right wingback. He has found himself in and out of the starting lineup on certain occasions. However such big is Inter financial problems, that they might have to sell to buy. According to Italian media reports, Inter are ready to sell Dumfries, if the price is right. This is done by the Italian side to keep hold of Alessandro Bastoni. Bastoni is linked with a move to the Premier League. The Italian giants are under pressure to meet FFP criteria. This comes after they are linked with moves for Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala on big-money contracts. The report is that Inter is trying to make a substantial profit on the Dumfries deal.
WOULD IT ACTUALLY BE A PROFITABLE MOVE FOR INTER?
Inter only paid just under 13m for Dumfries last summer. If the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich are interested, they would be likely willing to shell out a larger fee. For Inter, if they want to make a profit, this is the best time to sell Dumfries. In the case of United, Aaron Wan-Bissaka allegedly has been made available for transfer. So the fee recouped from a transfer or loan would be invested in the Dumfries deal. The news is Diogo Dalot will remain at Old Trafford for next season. As far as Bayern are concerned, they have signed Noussair Mazraoui on a free transfer from Ajax. The Morocco international is expected to challenge for a first-team spot. The backups at right-back, Benjamin Pavard, and Joshua Kimich are going to play at centre back and midfielder positions respectively.
This would open the door for Denzel who would directly compete with Mazraoui for the right wing-back position. While Dumfries has still three years left on the contract, it is not likely to become an issue. The only issue will be if the defender wants to stay at Inter. So if the price, Inter would be willing to do a deal. The deal if completed, it will profit Inter substantially. The problems of FFP are expected to be gone. So it all depends on the interested sides and Dumfries
