Manchester United’s long-term target Erling Haaland could play at Old Trafford next summer. The Red Devils were the favorites to sign Haaland when he was about to leave FC Red Bull Salzburg. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær coached Erling Haaland back when they were in Molde FK.

United were keen to sign him during the winter transfer window but he ended up signing for Dortmund. Now Haaland is worth more than  £150m. Chelsea were the frontrunners to sign him this summer but they ended up signing Romelu Lukaku. Meanwhile, Erling Haaland has a £64m release clause that can be triggered on September 1, and United are leading the race for the Norwegian.

The Red Devils have been enjoying their brilliant transfer window after signing Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. However, Manchester United still wants to sign a goal scorer. The Norwegian striker has scored 41 goals in 41 games last season. Moreover, he started the current campaign by scoring five goals in three games. He scored a hattrick in the opening game of the season in the DFB-Pokal against SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

According to The Express, it appears Haaland won’t be on his way to Old Trafford. The report suggests that Erling Haaland could move to Spain. Moreover, it says that an agreement has been agreed with the Los Blancos. Manchester United have identified three potential strikers if Haaland moves to Real Madrid.

Haaland alternatives shortlisted by Manchester United

Just in case Haaland moves to Madrid, United have shortlisted three players to sign next summer.

The first player on the list is Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The Everton striker didn’t make the headlines during the start of his Everton career scoring only 11 league goals in 78 games. After the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti, his career took off. Calvert-Lewin scored 24 goals in 53 games during Ancelotti’s tenure at Everton.

Antoine Griezmann is next on the list for The Red Devils. Barcelona paid £102m to sign the Frenchmen but he still hasn’t found his world-class form. United could grab the opportunity and sign him.

The next player on the list is the Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic. The striker scored 21 goals in 37 league games last season. The 21-year-old striker has been known as the ‘New Haaland’. His physical strength and tall stature make him good at holding the ball u when in possession and a constant aerial threat during set-pieces.
