Matt Turner is scheduled to undergo his medical tests today [Wednesday] before the announcement of his arrival. Turner joins the Gunners from the MLS team New England Revolution.

Mikel Arteta has been on the hunt for a new stopper. Arsenal are in dire need of a replacement for Leno. Bernd Leno is linked with a move away from Arsenal after losing his place to Aaron Ramsdale last season.

Turner was a surprise target during the January transfer window when reports emerged of Arsenal being in talks with the MLS side.

The 27-year-old stopper joins Arsenal form New England Revolution.

New England Revolutions confirmed in February that a deal had been made to sell the goalkeeper to Arsenal in the summer of 2022. The Express has further claimed that Arsenal will pay Turner £5m up front with a further £2.5m in add-ons, making the deal worth £7.5m in total.

Matt Turner was supposed to travel to London this week to finalize his move. Now it appears that the goalkeeper is already in London. Ryan Taylor has claimed that the stopper will undergo his medical today [Wednesday]. Ryan Taylor in his YouTube channel said :

“New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner will be having his medical on Wednesday. He officially joins on July 1st, and that [move] should be confirmed later in the week.”

Matt Turner- One of the best goalkeepers of MLS

Turner will now be an understudy of Aaron Ramsdale at the Emirates. Moreover, his arrival means Leno is finally able to secure a move away this summer.

Turner has been one of the best goalkeepers in MLS in these recent years. He was voted as the goalkeeper of the year following his spell of magnificent performances for the American club. Turner has also been a regular on the US national team.

Arsenal announced the arrival of Fabio Viera recently. And it seems that they’ll be unveiling another player very shortly.
