The Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly planning to sign Lionel Messi instead of Harry Kane this summer. This decision came after the Argentine made it official that he wants to leave Barcelona.

The Citizens have already signed a £100 million deal with Jack Grealish recently and now they are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspurs superstar striker Harry Kane.

However, Barcelona has announced on Thursday that Messi would not be signing a new contract with Camp Nou. Manchester City are thought to be the favourites to scrap this deal.

According to The Express, Kane’s chances of moving to Manchester City can be finished after Messi’s exit. City are potentially changing the focus from the England captain to the Argentina international.

The report claims that Citizens have set a bid of  £130 million for the England international. But, could now divert their minds towards bringing Lionel Messi to the Etihad Stadium.

Fabrizio Romano, Italian journalist, has said that Paris Saint-Germain are already in talks with the right winger in order to sign him.

However, the League 1 giants are looking to extend Kyle Mbappe’ contract and it would create a struggle for them in order to sign the South American this summer.

Harry Kane or Lionel Messi: Who can be an appropriate replacement for Sergio Aguero for Manchester City?

Harry Kane is a versatile and attacking centre forward. He has some advantages and disadvantages in his game. The English striker is good in finishing, long shots, key passes, through balls and the ability to head the ball on the opponent’s goal post. He is also good at controlling and holding the ball in his foot.

Lionel Messi plays a free attacking role and can play on either wing or through the centre of the pitch.  He scores a lot of goals. His short and strong legs allow him to excel in short bursts of acceleration while his feet enable him to retain control of the ball when dribbling with speed. The Argentina international is an accurate free-kick taker. The Argentine is also an expert in converting penalties.
