Mikel Arteta hopes to see Arsenal in the Champions League like the Women team. He believes that his team could go far in the champions league next season. After experiencing the joy after witnessing the majestic event earlier this week Arteta said that,
“It was great to have the experience to live it there and the crowd that we had in the game, especially the way they played, in the first half it was a real joy to watch”
“It is a big achievement, it hasn’t happened for many, many years at the club and we have to catch them up. This is the beauty of it, getting things inside the club that are inspiring for each other and can make us closer and better.”
Arsenal and the Champions League
They have a rich history in European competitions, including the UEFA Champions League.
They have reached the final of the Champions League once, in the 2005-06 season. Where they faced Barcelona in the final but lost 2-1. The club has also reached the semi-finals of the competition on two other occasions, in the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.
In recent years, however, Arsenal has struggled to qualify for the Champions League, with the club failing to make it to the competition since the 2016/17 season.
