Miralem Pjanic may be on his way to Sevilla

Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic has reportedly captured the attention of Sevilla. The midfielder is currently at Barcelona. Pjanic is one of the most technically gifted players in recent years. He has an exquisite pass on him, along with being a threat from set pieces as well.

Since transferring to Barcelona in a two-way transfer that saw Arthur Melo transfer to the Allianz Stadium, Miralem Pjanic has not been at his best. Two years after the moves were finalised, all four parties have regretted their choice

Pjanic, in particular, has fallen down the Camp Nou hierarchy. The managers have used him as a substitute and only in the smaller cup games. Arthur has also failed to cement a starting spot in the lineup and has been out with injuries.

Although the Bosnian midfielder performed admirably while on loan at Besiktas, he was not retained by the Turkish team due to their finances. In the early goings of the 2022–23 season, Pjanic is still a bit-part player for Barcelona, and chances are probably few and far between.

However, Sevilla might present an opportunity for the midfielder to leave his time at Barcelona behind while still playing in La Liga. The talent is clearly there, and Pjanic can be a great fit for them. Their coach Julien Loptuegi employs a possession-based style, where Pjanic can fit in like a glove.

Pjanic to Sevilla: Can It Happen?

Sevilla have suggested a loan swap deal with Karim Rekik on the table for Barcelona. The deal will be without a buy option. However, it looks unlikely that Barcelona will accept this proposal. They have already strengthened their defence with Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen

However, with the end of the window approaching, they will want to get Bosnian’s massive wages off the books. They might look for a compromise.
