Mohamed Salah and Liverpool are struggling with the player’s contractual situation. Both the parties are unable to come to an agreement for a final decision. The Egyptian’s contract expires in June 2023 and will be a free agent later. However, there is still no progress over the extension even though Salah is one of the most important players at Liverpool.

As a result, Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in signing the 29-year-old. However, Mohamed Salah will be happy to stay at Liverpool if a fresh agreement is reached with the club. Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will lose one very important player from the club if the Egyptian doesn’t pen down a new contract. Salah is very much responsible for where Liverpool is today and has played a major role in their success. Liverpool continues to march towards the Premier League title this season also. In addition, Salah is again proving to be excellent for his club and is leading the golden boot race. Salah has scored 13 league goals this season and assisted 9 which is the highest in both goals and assists. This brings his tally to 19 goals and 9 assists in 20 games in all competitions.

Salah had this to say to the reporters after Liverpool’s game against Wolves,

“I said it several times, if the decision is up to me, I want to stay in Liverpool. But the decision is in the hands of the management and they have to solve this issue. There is no problem but we have to reach an agreement for the contract. It’s up to them.”

“Your financial value shows how much the club appreciates you and that they are ready to do anything for you to stay, but the decision itself is not based on those financial matters only. There are things like the ambition of the team and the coach and what he wants to do with the team and the players he wants. These are all important points when making the decision.”

Why Liverpool need to sort the situation with Mohamed Salah quickly?

Liverpool will want to keep Mohamed Salah at all costs. He has been one of the core players of the club under Jurgen Klopp. He has contributed majorly in their first league title after 30 years and also in their Champions League win. Salah also broke various records during his time at Merseyside. He was also actively involved in the Ballon d’Or talks and was a very strong contender alongside Virgil van Djik. Salah’s contribution in the game is second to none. His work has helped Liverpool improve both offensively and defensively. Klopp’s gegenpressing is executed perfectly by the Egyptian and he has adapted to the system quite well.

Salah has certainly taken Liverpool to another level. He has helped them get the fear factor back in the team. The opponents tend to mark Salah considering his goalscoring abilities. However, his excellent dribbling skills make sure that he gets out of the pressure and gets himself an extra yard to shoot.

Mohamed Salah is Liverpool’s primary goalscorer and the Reds cannot afford to let him go easily. Not only they will lose an extraordinary player but other clubs will profit if he joins any other club in Europe. Moreover, it will not be easy to find a direct replacement and such a technical player and goalscorer. Liverpool must meet Salah’s demands and bind him to the club as long as they can. Salah has become the face of Liverpool and it will be a big deal if a player of huge importance leaves the club for free because of contractual issues.
