Liverpool

Former footballer Danny Murphy was stunned with manager Jurgen Klopp’s audacity to play the midfield three of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo against Bournemouth last Saturday.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand’s Five, Murphy discussed about his former club’s struggle in middle of the pitch for last few seasons. Klopp already made a statement in the opening weekend by naming a attacking line-up against Chelsea.

Liverpool settled down on a 1:1 draw against the Blues at Stanford Bridge. Reds lost both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea this summer. The rivalry between both clubs will intensify in this campaign due to their hardfought battle in the current tranfer campaign.

However, the German suprised everyone by opting to play Cody Gakpo in his midfield mix against Bournemouth FC last Saturday. Man U legend Rio Ferdinand applauded Klopp’s audacity to deploy such an attacking tactics in this early stages of the competition.

Ferdinand and Murphy discussed Liverpool’s midfield tactics

Speaking on the FIVE, Ferdinand discussed about Klopp’s new looking midfield this season and Murphy admitted that he was amazed after seeing Red’s line-up against Chelsea.

Both of them discussed the matter as Ferdinand stated:-

“Do you know what? The audacity of Klopp playing a midfield three that isn’t really defensive – I think it’s brilliant.

“It’s refreshing, it’s like ‘Ok, I believe in my philosophy and that’s it – go out and play.

“Playing them three in midfield, especially going to Stamford Bridge for the first game of the season.”

Meanwhile, Danny Murphy admitted that he was stunned when he came Liverpool’s line-up against Chelsea :-

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the team sheet.”

Ferdinand further priased his rival club and said :-

“It’s almost like ‘I don’t care about you’ and I like that, personally. I love it. But to compete, you can’t do that. Impossible!”

After Wataru Endo’s signing last week, Liverpool are still looking for one more midfielder this summer. Klopp and Co will look up to their newly build midfield in this campaign.
